A New Way of Supporting the Uninsured and Underinsured

A New Way of Supporting the Uninsured and Underinsured

The good news is that last year the U.S.has pa*sed health reform law so more people will be covered by health insurance. The bad news is that the law won’t kick in until 2014.(WTF?!??!?)

Last year I took part in one of those Free Clinics event as a nonmedical volunteer at the Washington Convention Center in DC and it was very overwhelming seeing so many people in dire need of just seeing someone in the medical field.I first learned about Free Clinics when Countdown With Keith Olbermann was on MSNBC.

Well that show has been bounced from MSNBC and been picked up on Current TV but it doesn’t mean that MSNBC has stopped talking about Free Clinics.(The and learned that there will be another large Free Clinics event in New Orleans. Not surprisingly there are underinsured people with medical problems who can’t wait until 2014.(Seriously, what was the Obama Administration thinking when it made that stupid compromise? Here’s a news flash: Cancer and other life-threatening ailments don’t care about waiting until 2014.)

What’s really cool is that there is now an even easier way of donating to Free Clinics. If you have a cell phone and love to text, all you have to do is text the word HEALTH to 50555 and the text will make a $10 donation on your behalf.

Think of how much money that can be raised if everyone who reads this post does this.As someone who participated in the DC event last year, I can say that much of the money is spent on things (like medicine and first aid supplies) that help the uninsured and underinsured in the United States.
